Faculty of Engineering was opened in 1968, when the University of Sulaimani was established. The School started with the Department of Civil. Engineering, which admitted 44 students for the first academic year of 1968-1969. The mission of Faculty of Engineering is to produce well-qualified engineering graduates who are ready for immediate and productive entry into the workforce or for graduate studies. The faculty does so by providing practice-oriented education based on laboratory work.
